What a KDS is and how it supports service.
KDS stands for Kitchen Display System: a screen that organises kitchen orders. It replaces paper order transmission with a shared view of readable lines and notes.
The benefit depends on the process: waiters must send orders and the kitchen must update statuses. If staff keep using paper alongside it without a clear rule, two versions of the same table appear. Review the workflow before starting.

Comandas supports order notes such as cooking preferences or requested changes. The kitchen receives the written notes and updates each line through pending, preparing, ready and served.
The floor checks progress without repeatedly asking about dishes. Define who marks the final status and how changes after submission are communicated so staff use the system consistently.
Kitchen service starts from the floor plan table.
Orders are taken from tables on the restaurant’s existing floor plan. That connection keeps the order within service: the waiter opens the table, adds menu dishes and sends the order.
Table QR provides another entry point. Configure whether those orders arrive directly or await waiter approval. Start with a simple workflow and add self-ordering once staff are comfortable.

Qomanda runs in a browser. The kitchen needs an internet-connected screen positioned where it can be read during service. Check size, connectivity and handling under your actual kitchen conditions.
Comandas is contracted separately from booking management and priced with the team. Screen purchases are not included by default. Tell us how you work and we will review a suitable setup.
